Familiar Burial By Amy Shelver

Where have you buried your hope?
In the timid trees among the leaves?

Where have you tucked your grief?
In the gentle curl of another girl?

Where have you said your penance?
On your knees after the breeze?

I’m not asking for answers.

I just know these places.

What’s yours, is mine.
And forever will be.
