Monologue on innocence lost  By Amy Shelver

Reality seems so close
Yet so far away;
Beside my innocence
Lies but experience.

Corruption is always
A rape of purity.

Far from certain realms,
Far from my meagre grasp,
Is something worth yearning for,
But not worth the effort.

‘If’ is such a big word
For such a small heart,

…And once again we drown.
