The world as my Oyster By Amy Shelver

Grimy crevices like fingerprints
Ripple along my exterior
Engraving unique tints
Each one met by new barrier.

Inside marshmallow tongue
Wet and vulnerable
To the effervescent gun
Betraying the comfortable cradle.

Ah! The beauty inside!
Nestled there in the heart
A secret of trait do abide,
And sets my little oyster apart.

Clam shut when too close
To something like harm;
Open to the tremors of coast
Smiling, secret, again calm.
